NYC mayor touts post-9-11 revamp, warns of potential for terrorism

Global News

NEW YORK – A day after the anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg touted the progress the World Trade Center site -and all of Lower Manhattan – has made in 12 years, but warned of future terror threats.

Bloomberg said when he took office in January 2002 the ruins of the World Trade Center were still smouldering and that there was real worry that the city would not be able to recover from the crippling economic and emotional blows delivered by the disaster.

“But today we can declare that the era of post-9-11 uncertainty is over,” Bloomberg said in a speech to the Downtown Alliance, which manages the area’s Business Improvement District.

He boasted that the population of downtown has tripled since 2001 and the area is now home to hotels, schools and parks.

Valiant Hearts: The Great War Trailer

Pawz Stuff

Here is a trailer for Valiant Hearts, a game published and developed by Ubisoft. The game is set in World War One and will follow the story of five different characters, featuring puzzle and exploration gameplay. The love story theme and the nature of the setting make this quite an intriguing prospect, it looks like it will be an adventure game but as yet that hasn’t been specified.

Outlast Review

Genre Survival Horror / Platforms Steam, PS4 (Q1 2014)

Developer Red Barrels / Publisher Red Barrels

Platform Played On PC

I will give you one tip: get your heart checked before playing this game. Seriously, go get yourself checked out, because this game has your heart racing and jumping for most of its length. Besides Amnesia: A Dark Descent, survival-horror titles of recent years haven’t lived up to their potential – *cough*Dead Space 3*cough* so I was relieved to see how good Red Barrels did with this game. Also, I urge you not to compare this game to Amnesia, because both games offer completely different horror experiences.

Outlast thrusts you into the shoes of either the most bad-ass journalist, or the most ignorant one: Miles Upshur. Acting on a tip from an inside source, Miles breaks into the “abandoned” Mount Massive Asylum, in the remote mountains of…
